Past ShowHouses
The concept

A new and exciting TV series called “The Room of Choice”© is about the trials and tribulations, including the drama surrounding
the creation of a  “Designer Show House.” Several designers will participate in the unique format of a major competition amongst
themselves, in this case some of the most renowned in the world of design. They will each be assigned a space in a private residence
and will then renovate and transform the assigned rooms to a glorious result. Upon completion of the project the viewing audience
will send in their individual votes selecting the designer and room they most prefer “The Room of Choice”©.

The entire design process will be documented on film, from inception to fruition, including all the encompassing factors involved in
this monumental venture, starting with the many hours spent determining the design and style of the room itself. Next will be
presenting a finished storyboard for approval by the owners and the possible changes and compromise. Then by visiting various
showrooms, manufacturers and suppliers, carefully accumulating their wares, the designers will establish a proper work schedule,
pursued by the actual work. This will include the various workers and artisans doing: demolition and construction, wall coverings
and/or painting, flooring, carpeting and tiling fabrication and installation, various window treatments and finally furniture and fine art
placement throughout their entire rooms, and bringing it, as they say “All together”.

The series will present to the viewers a wide variety of entertainment and educational information about all the aspects and
procedures in home improvement, demonstrating to the world, the various individual talents involved, their creativity and unique
abilities. Who then will be the winner? What designer?  What room? Only those casting votes will determine the outcome, at the
finale of the series, with eager anticipation. The executive producer and host of the program Franco Grimaldi, who fashioned this
television series, has produced dozens of Show Houses in the past for charitable events and his unparalleled success have become
unequalled in the design industry. Combining his experience in the world of entertainment along with his challenges as a Show House
producer makes this project a real winner.

The uniqueness of the show is in its multifaceted approach to interior design, from the perspective of furnishings, manufacturers,
suppliers, the different artisans and workers, visits to show rooms and demonstrating all facets of fabrication and design. All of this
culminating in a wide diversity of human interaction and dynamics, adding the excitement of choosing “THE ROOM OF CHOICE”©
winner and a substantial prize of their own. Through this concept we will generate a wide variety of viewership and broad
demographics, unlike any other television series before the public today that is dedicated to interior design.

RAISON D’ETRE:
Interior Design
Lights, Camera, Action . . . Design

(ARA) - “Reality” shows have saturated television programming, especially in the area of home and garden design. You can “trade
spaces” with a neighbor, enlist a professional to recreate a high-end designer room on a budget or secretly call in a design team to
remake a room as a surprise for a loved one. This makes for compelling television watching . . . Especially when the transformed
spaces and the shocked reactions of the room makeover “victims” are revealed. But these reality shows are not real. They do little to
showcase the benefits of working with professional interior designers who can help you “trade spaces,” “change rooms” or “design
on a dime,” but better.
.
Although some design show hosts have a formal education and professional background in interior design, many do not. The
professional design talent would be the first to tell you that the magical world of television, with its strategic editing and instant
gratification, is far different from the real world of interior design where good results require careful planning, patience and
expectations.
Although a design show’s budget may be $500 to $1,000, that amount doesn't’t include the cost of hiring and using professional
labor. These shows have designers and multiple contractors on staff who make sure the inexpensive supplies are translated into
aesthetically pleasing (although not necessarily functional, practical or safe) furniture, accessories, window treatments and wall
coverings.
After watching episodes of these shows, some viewers may mistakenly believe that any home improvement project can be
accomplished within a very limited price range and a smidgen of time, creating unrealistic expectations that can only lead to
disappointment. Disillusionment will turn into delight,  however, if you take the time to find and hire the right professional interior
designer who can develop a design solution and practical budget specific to your
needs.

After one digests the above commentary, and understands the essence of our project, it  becomes evident that American Showcase
Homes, television series: “THE ROOM OF CHOICE”© distinguishes  itself from other home shows and their unrealistic approach to
design.  Our goal, and profound mission, is to pay attention to the integrity and valor of the profession, by presenting their skills and
expertise at any level of any size, scope or need with honesty and practicability, rarely seen in today’s present formats; thus
supporting the fact, that we redecorate an entire house for the public’s enjoyment, not just one space in the home. Major details of
design and execution will be witnessed, by our viewing audience, at every frame in both an educational, honest and entertaining style,
minus any gimmickry or lack of professionalism on behalf of the distinguished participants who will be dedicating themselves and
talents to this project. The producer and host, Franco Grimaldi, who was inspired to present this program to the public, brings
volumes of experience to the project by combining his experience in the world of entertainment along with his challenges and
successes as a Show House producer for the past ten years. The best bonus of all will be the audiences’ vote at the end of the series
expressing their individual tastes, participation and loyal support of what the design community and their ethics justify in a meaningful
and personal way. The information and details gained from “THE ROOM OF CHOICE’©, will enhance their lifestyle and homes
forever…
